Morning Coffee

Nov. 13, 2007

Early this morning I was awakened by the sound of a percolator. Some thoughtful person was brewing coffee for me. Gradually I realized that I live with cats, not with people, that the cats do not do coffee, that the noise was The General, who was perched on the edge of the bed in order to vomit a hairball over the side, where it dribbled down the bedspread, the blanket, the sheet, and the bedskirt, and then splatted onto the carpet, and that this was not anywhere near as nice to wake up to as a cup of fresh-brewed coffee would have been.

New plan: start the day with three loads of laundry and postpone breakfast indefinitely.

[Children with Asperger's commonly experience sleep problems and disorientation on waking.]
