Thanksgiving

Dad's non-negotiable requirements for a restaurant for our Thanksgiving dinner: it has to be a place he's been to before, within a ten-minute drive of his house, where men don’t wear ties or suits or shirts with buttons, where he can get a steak, and where the bill for Thanksgiving dinner for two people with tax and tip comes to under $20.

My non-negotiable requirement for a restaurant for our Thanksgiving dinner: not Waffle House.

Since neither of us is willing to negotiate, on account of his being so stubborn, the argument is loud, heated, and an annual tradition, a sort of opening kick-off for our holidays.
